REGISTRATIONS
Only financial members of the Society can register ponies.

All registration applications must be complete and requested photocopies of their registrations showing proof of ownership and breeding attached.

Young stock registrations made by a member other than the owner of the sire shall be accompanied by a service certificate.

The breeder is deemed to be the owner/lessee of the mare at the time of foaling.

One registration will apply to females in all sections and geldings.

No stock eligible by pedigree for registration or registered in a pure bred section of a stud book recognised by the Society can be registered Section A.

Only stock of a straight colour are eligible for registration. When applying to register adult animals proof of breeding must be provided (that is service certificate or copy of other registration papers).

Thoroughbred mares must have a volume and page number and a copy of commercial papers provided (that is ASB passport, racing papers, catalogue or printout from ASB). Thoroughbred mares (if not ASB registered) will be accepted into the register if proof of three generations of breeding is supplied.

Stud Books recognised by the Society are:
Arabian: Australian Pony: Connemara: Dartmoor: Hackney: New Forest: Thoroughbred: Welsh A,B,C.

Imported Stock from U.K.: Stock imported into Australia which are registered in the Riding Pony Section of the National Pony Society are eligible for registration by pedigree to the appropriate section of the Stud Book.

Imported Stock From New Zealand: Stock imported into Australia registered in the N.Z. Riding Pony Stud Book or the Pony Breeders Society of N.Z. Inc Stud Book are eligible for the relevant registration to a section of the Stud Book subject to the stock meeting such requirements as the National Board may stipulate.

Appendix Mares: Mares which exceed 14.2 hands in height are entered or transferred to the Appendix Section of the Stud Book according to the pedigree. Appendix mares cannot be shown in Riding Pony classes.

Stallions: Section A entire progeny must be adult registered with DNA before either the age of four years or standing at stud. The application for registration of stallions must be accompanied by a current (within 6 months) original veterinary certificate which states the suitability and soundness for breeding purposes with specific reference to genitalia. No photocopies or facsimile copies will be accepted. Stallions registered in Stud Books recognised by the Society are eligible for registration as an approved stallion with the Society. Society Approved stallions must be registered with D.N.A. before a mare can be served. Approved stallions cannot be shown in Riding Pony classes.

Colts: Colts eligible for Section A can be foal recorded before 31st July following the year of birth after which a fee of $33.00 will apply. All other colts must be gelded before application for registration as a gelding.
Geldings: Gelding can only be registered in the Gelding registration section of the RPSBS Ltd. Stud Book.
Foal recorded Section A colts upon being registered as a gelding will have the foal recording fee deducted from the gelding registration fee. The foal-recording certificate must accompany the gelding registration application.
