Embryo Transfer
Before a foal born as a result of Embryo Transfer may be registered with the RPSBS all the RPSBS current rules for registration will apply and in addition:
1. The Stallion and Mare used must be registered with the Riding Pony Stud Book Society Ltd. and DNA tested before the commencement of any programme. Cost to be borne by the owner/lessee. (Forms available on application at a cost of $120.00 each.) If the stallion to be used is resident outside Australia the stallion's blood type code must be provided to the Australian Blood Typing Research Laboratory, University of Qld, Dept. of Physiology, St Lucia, Brisbane Aust. 4072.
2. Before the commencement of any programme applications must be made to the RPSBS Registrar for the official Embryo Transfer Record. This application must be made in writing, stating the animal's name, sire, dam, colour and date of birth. (Forms available on application.) See Clause (b) Penalties.
3. The Mare Embryo Transfer Form must be duly completed by the Vet/Technician at the time of embryo transfer and it is the responsibility of the mare owner to ensure pink copy of the record is forwarded to the RPSBS Registrar within 90 days of the embryo transfer.
4. Notation of any pregnancy result must be included on each embryo transfer record.
5. Embryos may be sold. "Transfer of Embryo Form" must be completed, together with a fee and lodged at Federal Office.
APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION OF A RESULTANT FOAL MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY:
a.
Mare owner's copy (blue copy) of the Embryo Transfer Record signed and completed by the Veterinary Officer of Certified AI Technician.
b.
An application for DNA testing must accompany a completed registration application form.
c.
The Embryo Transfer foal must be blood typed from 4 months. See Clause © Penalties.
d.
A letter confirming the DNA application will be forwarded to the applicant. This is not any form of registration. No registration certificate will be issued until confirmation of parent validation is received from the Blood Typing Research laboratory by the Federal Office.
e.
The only prefix and brand which may be applied to a foal that is born as a result of embryo transfer shall be deemed to be that of the owner of the embryo/foetus at birth. Should either of the parties involved wish to lodge an objection concerning the parentage of a resultant foal they should do so in writing to the Registrar of the Riding Pony Stud Book Society Inc. At the same time they shall deposit the sum of $110.00. If, on investigation, the objection is not sustained, the cost of the DNA testing will be deducted from the deposit.
PENALTIES RELATING TO EMBRYO TRANSFER
a.
Late application for Embryo Transfer records (after the commencement of an embryo transfer programme) will be an additional fee of $110.00. e) Late application for Mare DNA testing Form (after the commencement of an embryo transfer programme) an additional fee of $110.00 will be payable by the breeder.
b.
If the resultant progeny are not DNA tested from the age of 4 months an additional fee of $110.00 payable by the breeder will be applied.
