Artificial Insemination Regulations
The RIDING PONY STUD BOOK SOCIETY’S Rules require a Veterinarian to perform DNA testing. If you wish to use the DNA results from the Arabian Horse Society of Australia for a duel registered pony the Veterinarian certificate stating the DNA hair sample was collected must be included.
1. The Stallion used must be registered with the Riding Pony Stud Book Society LTD. and DNA tested before the commencement of any programme. If the Stallion to be used is resident outside Australia the Stallion's blood type code must be provided to the Australian Blood Typing Research Laboratory, University of Qld, Dept. of Physiology, St Lucia, Brisbane Aust. 4072.
2. Before the commencement of any Artificial Insemination programme the Mare to be inseminated must be DNA tested. Application for DNA forms for any animal must be made in writing, stating the animal's name, sire, dam, colour and date of birth. Cost to be borne by the owner/lessee. 3. Before the commencement of any programme applications must be made to the RPSBS Registrar for the official Mare Artificial Insemination Record. This application must be made in writing, stating the animal's name, sire, dam, colour and date of birth. (Forms available on application.) For late applications see Clause (b) Penalties.
4. The Mare Artificial Insemination Record must be duly completed by the Vet/Technician at the time of insemination and it is the responsibility of the mare owner to ensure that the pink copy of the record is forwarded to the RPSBS Registrar within 90 days of insemination taking place.
5. Notation of any pregnancy result must be included on each insemination record.
6. A Service Certificate must be issued by the stallion owner/agent to the mare owner on completion of the Artificial Insemination Programme. (Conditions of issuance of a normal service certificate will apply.)
7. A Stallion Return must be completed by the Stallion owner/agent annually including special notation of the mares artificially inseminated. This Return must be lodged with the Federal Office by 31st July annually.

An official application form for registration, a service certificate:
a.
Mare owner's copy (Yellow copy) of Insemination Record.
b.
An application for DNA testing of foal.
c.
Resultant progeny must DNA tested from 4 months. For late applications see Clause Penalties.
A letter confirming the blood typing application will be forwarded to the applicant this is not any form of registration. A registration certificate will be issued after confirmation of parent validation is received from the Blood Typing Research laboratory by the Federal Office.
Should either of the parties involved wish to lodge an objection concerning the parentage of a resultant foal, they should do so in writing to the Registrar of the Riding Pony Stud Book Society Inc. At the same time they shall deposit the sum of $110.00. If, on investigation, the objection is not sustained, the cost of the DNA testing will be deducted.
PENALTIES RELATED TO ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION
a.
Late application for Mare Insemination Records after the commencement of the AI Programme the breeding documents will be an additional fee of $110.00.
b.
Late application for Mare DNA Testing Form after the commencement of the AI Programme will be an additional fee of $110.00.
c.
c) If resultant progeny are not DNA tested from the age of 4 months an additional fee of $110.00 payable by the breeder.
